Mid-Century French Hand-Painted Figural Tole Table Lamps with Shades
$1,600
About
Crafted in France circa 1950, this charming pair of mid-century table lamps captures the romantic spirit of French decorative design. Each lamp features a finely detailed hand-painted figural scene at the base: one depicting a seated gentleman raising a glass beside a café table, the other a dancing woman in traditional dress. The circular platforms are decorated with a checkerboard motif and raised scrolled borders in gilt and bronze-toned metal. Slender central stems are wrapped in painted tole vines with green leaves and sculpted blossoms, adding vertical movement and whimsy. Small café tables with miniature pitchers, glasses, and floral elements further enhance the storytelling quality of each piece. The lamps are topped with soft beige shades printed with a subtle floral pattern that complements the palette and diffuses the light warmly. The metal bases display a timeworn patina consistent with age and use. Wired for US standards with inline switches. Shades are included. Dimensions: With shade: 14” diameter x 20.5”H Without shade: 6” diameter x 14.75”H
