Mid-Century French Louis XIV Oak Confiturier Jelly Cabinet from Normandy
$1,150
About
Crafted in France, circa 1970, this antique Normandy confiturier cabinet is a charming example of provincial Louis XIV style rendered in solid oak. The compact form features a molded rectangular top over a single drawer fitted with a hand-forged iron pull, above a paneled door carved with a raised arched motif. Traditional pegged joinery and exposed dowel construction add to its authentic country character.
The interior opens to reveal a practical storage space with a fixed middle shelf, ideal for organizing linens, tableware, or everyday essentials. The jelly cabinet stands on sturdy square legs and is dressed with original iron hardware, including hinges and escutcheon, and retains its working key.
The piece is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, showcasing a warm, light walnut patina with beautiful grain movement, minor surface wear, and natural distress that enhance its rustic appeal.
Versatile in scale, this cabinet works beautifully as a bedside table, a small entry storage piece, or repurposed as a powder room vanity.
