Pair of 18th Century French Carved Walnut Armchairs with Leather and Needlepoint
$7,900
About
This elegant pair of antique French Louis XV armchairs was crafted in France circa 1760 and features finely carved fruitwood frames with a rich, warm walnut patina developed over time. Each fauteuil stands on graceful cabriole legs terminating in carved paw feet, joined by a scalloped apron centered with floral and foliate motifs. The arms are softly curved and carved, offering both visual balance and comfortable support. The shaped backs retain their original handwoven needlepoint upholstery, decorated with delicate floral motifs framed by scrolling ornamentation. The needlepoint presents beautifully with soft, harmonious coloration that complements the warmth of the wood. The generously sized seats have been professionally reupholstered in durable light brown leather, selected for comfort and everyday usability, and finished with decorative brass nailhead trim in keeping with the period. Comfortable, well proportioned, and highly decorative, these antique armchairs are ideal for a living room, study, library, or bedroom seating arrangement. They combine authentic 18th century character with practical functionality and strong visual presence. Both armchairs are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use. Dimensions: 27″W x 22″D x 43″H
