Pair of 19th Century French Louis XVI Oval Giltwood Wall Mirrors
$1,800
About
This pair of antique French oval mirrors dates to circa 1860 and is carved from wood with original gilt finishes. The oval frames feature a molded profile with repeating gadrooning and an inner Greek key border, both characteristic elements of the Louis XVI neoclassical style. The gilding retains a warm, aged patina with light wear consistent with age and use. Both mirrors retain their original oval mirror plates with light, age-appropriate spotting typical of 19th century glass. The frames are solid and stable, with original wood backs and later hanging wires for easy installation. Well proportioned and visually balanced, these antique mirrors are especially effective used as a pair. They are ideal for a powder room, mounted over matching consoles or commodes, flanking a doorway or window, or placed above a double vanity. Decorative, functional, and easy to place, they add symmetry, light, and classic French character to both traditional and transitional interiors. The mirrors are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use. Dimensions: 26.5″W x 30.75″H each
