Pair of 19th Century French Painted Ceramic Barbotine Vases with Floral Decor
Beautifully sculpted and colorful, this pair of antique Majolica vases would be a wonderful addition to a mantel, tabletop or bookshelf. Crafted in France, circa 1870, each hand painted piece stands on four curved feet and features a wide and scalloped neck at the pediment; each vase is decorated with ornate pink and yellow floral motifs in high relief including blooming roses and green foliage. The vessels are designed to look like a tree, each dressed with a branch form handle on one side. Both vases are in excellent condition and the flowers and leaves have a rich color palette of pink, yellow and green on a brown and beige background. Markings on the bottom with number 1559 engraved for further authentication. Measures: 5.5″ W x 8″ D x 19.5″ H.
