Pair of 19th Century French Renaissance Spelter Figural Table Lamps with Shades
$4,900
About
Decorate a man’s office, library, or entryway with this elegant pair of antique French figural lamps, crafted circa 1870. Each lamp features a finely cast bronze Renaissance gentleman rendered in period dress, modeled with expressive posture and carefully detailed garments that reflect the historicist taste of late 19th-century French decorative arts. The figures are titled “Le Pêcheur” and “Le Sauveteur,” as indicated by their original brass plaques affixed to the bases. Each sculpture is signed at the bronze base and mounted on a circular faux tortoiseshell–finished wooden plinth, adding warmth and visual contrast to the dark, richly patinated bronze figures. The sculptural quality of the bronzes remains the focal point, with the lamp elements discreetly integrated. Both figures have been professionally wired as table lamps and are topped with custom shades, included. The bronzes retain a deep, even patina with crisp modeling throughout, and the bases show surface wear consistent with age and use. This antique pair is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use. Dimensions: 11″ diameter base x 36.5″H
