Pair of 19th Century French Walnut Nightstands with Leather Book Spine Doors
These cabinets were crafted in France circa 1890; each elegant antique chest sits on cabriole legs ending with brass sabots over a scalloped apron. The petite Louis XV style commode features a top drawer over a double-door made with “Trompe l’Oeil” doors made of ten leather book spines. The top with a raised edge, is decorated with parquetry and inlaid motifs, and both sides are also embellished with marquetry decor. The small walnut bedside tables are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use and adorn a rich walnut patina. Use this versatile chests as a nightstands in a bedroom or use it in a living room as side tables. Measures: 15.25″ W x 12″ D x 29″ H.
