Pair of Early 20th Century Dutch Delft Faience Vases with Sailboat Scenes
$1,200
About
Decorate a mantel, console, or bookshelf with this elegant pair of antique Delft vases. Crafted in Holland circa 1920, the tall cylindrical vessels feature a gently flared rim and classic blue and white faience decoration inspired by centuries of Dutch ceramic tradition.
Each faience vase is hand painted with a central cartouche depicting sailboats gliding across calm waters, accompanied by distant vessels and seabirds. The nautical scenes are framed by intricate floral and foliate motifs, while decorative borders at the top and bottom add balance and visual richness to the composition. The reverse side is embellished with delicate flowering branches, creating interest from every angle.
The antique vases are marked “Delft” on the underside and exhibit the crisp cobalt blue decoration and refined craftsmanship for which Dutch faience is celebrated. Their slender proportions make them ideal for displaying seasonal blooms, dried arrangements, or simply as decorative accents. The pair is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use and adorns soft hand-painted colors throughout.
