Pair of Early 20th Century Dutch Delft Faience Vases with Sailboats & Windmills
$1,300
About
Decorate a console, mantel, or bookshelf with this elegant pair of antique Delft vases. Crafted in Holland circa 1920, the faience vessels feature a graceful baluster form with a bulbous body rising to a long flared neck and scalloped rim. Their classic silhouette is enhanced by finely hand-painted decoration in the traditional Delft blue and white palette.
Each vase is adorned with two oval cartouches depicting iconic Dutch landscapes. One medallion features a sailboat gliding across calm waters beneath a sky dotted with birds, while the opposing reserve portrays a picturesque windmill scene with waterways and distant sailing vessels. The landscapes are framed by abundant floral and foliate decoration, with additional blossoms scattered across the body and along the scalloped rim.
The antique ceramic vases display the timeless charm and craftsmanship associated with Dutch Delftware and make a striking decorative statement whether displayed alone or filled with fresh or dried arrangements. The pair is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use and adorns soft hand-painted cobalt blue tones throughout. The underside retains the Delft factory mark for further authenticity and provenance.
