Pair of French Louis XV Walnut Corner Cabinets with 18th Century Carved Doors
$29,500
About
Decorate a corner or anchor a room with this elegant pair of antique encoignures, crafted in France and sourced from Lyon, incorporating Louis XV doors circa 1760. Built in walnut, each cabinet features a tall arched door richly carved with shell, foliate, and scroll motifs in the refined Louis XV taste, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship and depth of relief.
The façade is framed by softly rounded stiles and a shaped apron with additional carved detailing, all resting on petite cabriole feet. The warm and rich walnut patina enhances the natural grain throughout, while the paneled sides and solid construction speak to the quality and durability of the build. Each door retains its original iron hinges and escutcheon with working key, adding authenticity and character.
The interiors are fitted with stationary shelving, offering practical storage while maintaining the clean architectural lines of the form. These antique cabinets were later constructed using 18th century Louis XV doors, preserving period carving within a functional encoignure form.
These antique encoignures are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with minor wear consistent with their age. A rare and decorative pair, ideal for flanking a fireplace, framing an entry, or adding vertical presence to a salon or dining room.
