Pair of Mid-Century French Hollywood Regency Acrylic and Brass Side Tables
$2,900
About
Crafted in France circa 1970, this elegant pair of side tables reflects the glamorous Hollywood Regency aesthetic through a refined combination of gilt metal, acrylic, and glass. Each table features a square glass top with mirrored trim, raised on four clear acrylic column supports capped with gilt-metal mounts and finials. The architectural bases rest on square plinth feet joined by double gilt-metal stretchers, creating a crisp geometric frame that balances the lightness of the transparent columns. The interplay of luminous acrylic, reflective glass, and warm gilt finish gives the tables a sophisticated presence while maintaining a visually airy profile. The design recalls the neoclassical interpretations popularized by Maison Charles of Paris, where classical column forms were reimagined using modern materials such as lucite and polished metal during the 1960s and 1970s. Though unmarked, the proportions and materials reflect that same refined French decorative style. Good vintage condition commensurate with age and use, with some tarnishing to the brass.
