Full of color, movement, and Parisian atmosphere, this charming pair of vintage cityscape paintings is by American artist Robert Lebron (1928–2013). Crafted circa 1960, each oil on canvas depicts a lively Belle Époque-inspired Paris street scene animated with fashionable pedestrians, horse-drawn carriages, glowing shop windows, and rain-slicked pavement reflecting the lights of the city. One composition prominently features the recognizable façade and blue-green dome of the Opéra Garnier, while its companion presents another bustling boulevard in the fashionable Opéra district.

Lebron worked in a spirited Impressionist manner, building his compositions with energetic brushwork and areas of pronounced impasto. Rich oranges, reds, blues, and golds enliven the darker architecture, creating the luminous evening effect for which his Parisian scenes are particularly appreciated. His approach recalls the celebrated Paris street painters Édouard Cortès and Eugène Galien-Laloue while retaining his own distinctly colorful, animated character.

Born in New York, Robert Lebron studied at the High School of Music & Art and the Art Students League before traveling and painting extensively in Europe. A small dog, a whimsical motif that appears repeatedly throughout his work, can be spotted among the figures in these compositions.

Both paintings are signed and presented in matching ornate carved giltwood frames with linen liners. The pair is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with vivid color and beautifully preserved surface texture.
