Set of Three Mid-Century Paris Street Scene Oil Paintings Signed Burnett
$2,600
About
This colorful set of three vintage oil paintings captures the lively atmosphere and architectural character of Paris. Crafted in France circa 1945, each oil on canvas depicts a bustling Parisian street scene filled with traditional buildings, storefronts, market awnings, and elegantly dressed figures strolling beneath softly rendered skies.
Executed in an Impressionist manner, the paintings combine loose brushwork with pronounced palette-knife texture, giving the architecture, rooftops, and pavement a richly dimensional surface. Soft shades of gray, cream, and blue are enlivened by touches of ochre, yellow, orange, and green, while strong linear perspective draws the viewer into the streets and squares. Each composition presents a different Parisian view, yet the closely related palette, scale, and technique allow the three paintings to display beautifully as a cohesive decorative group.
Each canvas is signed “Burnett” in the lower right corner and is attributed to Caroline Burnett (1877–1950), an American-born artist associated with Impressionist views of Paris. Burnett is best known for atmospheric cityscapes depicting Parisian streets, architecture, and everyday urban life, rendered with an emphasis on light, movement, and texture.
The unframed canvases retain a strong decorative presence and would display especially well together across a large study, office, library, or living room wall. The paintings are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use. Each artwork may also be sold separately.
