Monumental antique painted canvas “Le Cercle de Jeux”, depicting a gambling scene in a very cozy game room. The art work is signed on the bottom right Louis Alphonse David (1798-1849. The scene features eighteen men dressed in authentic Empire clothing and playing cards game around three different tables. The large piece is in good condition with vivid colors: a wonderful addition to any game room or large den! David entered l’Ecole des Beaux Arts in 1817 where he was a student of Girodet. He exposed in the Salon de Paris from 1831-1849. Measures: 212″ W x 113″ H. SKU: 62-617
