Hand carved near Venice, Italy, circa 1960, this large antique sculpture sits on an integral square red and gilt wooden pillow base; it features a greyhound figure sitting on back legs, its head up at attention as if ready to follow any command given. The canine is further dressed with a painted and gilt collar around the neck. The work of art adorns a painted and polychromed patinated finish, with very realistic shape and details. The Venetian dog sculpture is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and could be used to decorate an entry way, or a study. A must have for any animal lover! Measures: 11″ W x 10″ D x 33.75″ H.
