Full of personality and remarkably lifelike, this vintage dog sculpture captures the endearing character of a beloved basset hound. Crafted in Italy circa 2000, the large terracotta figure depicts the dog seated at attention with its long drooping ears, oversized paws, gently wrinkled legs, and tail curled closely along one side.

The sculpture is hand-painted in warm russet brown, chestnut, black, and white tones that accentuate the animal’s coat and expressive features. Carefully rendered eyes, a glossy black nose, individually defined toes, and the breed’s characteristic melancholic expression lend the figure exceptional charm and realism. A glazed barbotine-style finish further enriches the color and highlights the sculptural details.
