Mid-Century French Louis XV Carved Burl and Rosewood Bombe Six-Drawer Chest

Crafted in France circa 1960, the elegant antique “Semainier” stands on cabriole legs ending with front bronze sabots, over a scalloped apron decorated with a center bronze mount. The chest features veneer rosewood decorated with bronze mounts in the corners; it is fitted with six serpentine drawers embellished with checkerboard stringing inlay, and dressed with ornate bronze handles and matching escutcheons. The cabinet is in very good condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich walnut patina. Place this tall multi-drawer chest in your bedroom or bathroom for extra storage! Key included. Some missing veneer on the front (see detailed images). A Semainier is a tall, narrow chest traditionnaly with seven drawers, one for each day of the “Semaine” (week in English); the traditional storage unit was used to organize a week’s supply of lingerie, shirts, etc… Measures: 25.75″ W x 15″ D x 54″ H.
