Decorate a living room, den or office with this large pair of antique wing-back fauteuils. Crafted in France circa 1880, each “Fauteuil de Confessional” stands on elegant cabriole legs decorated with floral and acanthus leaf motifs at the shoulder and ending with escargot feet. Each chair features a scalloped serpentine apron embellished with carved floral and foliage motifs, a tall pitched and arched wing back decorated with shell and leaf motifs at the pediment, and dressed with armrests and open arms decorated with hand carved foliate motifs over ear-form sides. The wide and deep seat and padded back are upholstered with a green and beige striped silk fabric. Both large Regence fauteuils are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorn a wonderful walnut patina. The important Louis XV fauteuils are accompanied by a pair of grey velvet patterned throw pillows. Light stain spots.
