19th C. Dutch Baroque Walnut Inlaid Dining Chairs with Leather Seats, Set of 10
$9,900
About
This impressive set of ten antique dining chairs was crafted in the Netherlands circa 1890 and exemplifies the exuberant decorative language of the Dutch Baroque Revival. Executed in solid walnut, each chair is richly embellished with fine marquetry inlay featuring floral baskets, scrolling foliage, ribbon-tied motifs, and stylized botanical designs extending across the backs, splats, legs, and aprons. The depth and consistency of the inlay work reflect skilled cabinetmaking and a strong continental tradition of ornamentation. The chairs present elegant pierced and scrolled backs with flowing uprights, paired with cabriole front legs and gracefully curved rear legs, giving the set a refined yet animated silhouette. Nine chairs share the same decorative scheme, while one chair displays a slightly different inlay motif, a detail commonly encountered in authentic antique sets and consistent with period workshop production or later completion. The seats are upholstered in warm cognac-toned leather, beautifully aged with a rich patina, natural creasing, and surface wear commensurate with age and use. The leather harmonizes perfectly with the warm wood tones and enhances the overall character and authenticity of the set. Structurally sound and visually cohesive, these antique chairs are well suited for a formal dining room, grand breakfast room, or statement table in a refined European interior. Excellent condition commensurate with age and use. Each chair measures: 20.5″W x 18.5″D x 45″H seat: 19.5″ high
