Early 20th Century French Beechwood and Cane Dining Chairs, Set of 6
$6,900
About
Bring refined provincial elegance to a dining room, breakfast room, or kitchen with this set of six antique beechwood cane chairs. Crafted in France circa 1920, each chair features a shaped arched back with hand-woven cane panels, matching cane seats beneath loose custom cushions, and a warm honey-toned beechwood frame with a rich patinated finish.
The chairs are designed in the Louis XV taste, with graceful cabriole legs, scrolling feet, serpentine aprons, and carved shell and foliate motifs decorating the crest rail and seat apron. Generously proportioned, the chairs offer wide, deep seats and a comfortable scale, making them especially practical for long dinners and everyday use. The orange-red patterned cushions are finished with coordinating braided ties and tassels, adding color, comfort, and a decorative touch while allowing the original cane seats to remain visible underneath.
The set is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with sturdy frames, warm wood grain, decorative carvings, and beautifully aged cane work.
