Vintage English Walnut Four-Step Library Ladder with Brass Accents

About
Combining practical functionality with clean geometric lines, this vintage English library ladder features a distinctive A-frame design and rich walnut finish. Crafted circa 1970, the freestanding ladder is constructed of solid walnut and features four wooden steps on each side, allowing access from either direction.
The ladder is supported by two broad, tapered side panels with softly rounded upper ends, creating a balanced and architectural silhouette. Each step is securely fitted between the wooden supports, while decorative circular brass inlays accent the exterior panels at the points of construction. Small metal brackets reinforce the individual steps, adding stability and durability.
At the top, a brass hinge mechanism connects the two sides, allowing the ladder to fold into a compact, upright configuration for convenient storage. The symmetrical design, substantial construction, and contrasting brass details give the piece a distinctive mid-century character.
The vintage ladder is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, retaining a warm walnut patina with attractive natural grain throughout. Both decorative and functional, it would make a useful addition to a library, study, kitchen, or dressing room.
