Pair of 19th Century Italian Carved Silver Leaf Pricket Candlesticks
$3,500
About
Elevate a mantel, console, or altar with this elegant pair of antique Italian pricket candlesticks, crafted circa 1880. Each tall pic-cierge stands on a triangular base raised on three small square feet, richly decorated on all sides with carved floral medallions and scrolling motifs.
The slender, tapering stems are beautifully hand-carved with acanthus leaf decoration, rising to a circular drip pan fitted with an iron pricket to secure a candle. The proportions are refined and architectural, giving the pair a strong vertical presence ideal for flanking a mirror or anchoring a centerpiece.
The candlesticks are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and retain a warm two-tone silver leaf finish with areas of gentle wear revealing underlying tones, adding depth and character to the surface.
