Crafted in France circa 1870, each neoclassical urn is executed in richly veined pink marble and mounted in finely cast gilt bronze with exceptional detail throughout.
The sculptural vessels are adorned with ram’s head mounts connected by flowing laurel garlands, a classical motif associated with Bacchus and the decorative vocabulary of the Louis XVI period. The urn-form bodies are framed by graceful tripod supports terminating in hoof feet over shaped marble plinths embellished with gilt bronze mounts and small bun feet. Delicate acanthus borders and fluted ornament further accentuate the elegant silhouette.
Beautifully proportioned and newly wired for the US market, the lamps retain a warm, aged gilt bronze patina that contrasts beautifully against the variegated rose marble with white and mauve veining. The pair is dressed with custom pleated shades and decorative finials, offering a timeless and sophisticated presence whether placed on bedside tables, a console, or a commode.
