Pair of 19th Century French Hand-Painted Faience Trumpet Vases
$775
About
Add vivid color and architectural form to a mantel, console, or dining-room display with this elegant pair of antique faience trumpet vases. Crafted in France circa 1899, each tall ceramic vessel features a square base, a slender waisted body, and a flared square opening.
The vases are richly hand-painted with elaborate floral bouquets, scrolling foliage, and ornamental motifs in deep cobalt blue, green, red, orange, yellow, and white. Near the base, each vase displays a distinctive heraldic-style decoration composed of a crown, ermine motifs, and a running fox above the inscription “Loches.” Additional delicate flowers extend along the sides, allowing the pair to be enjoyed from multiple angles.
The undersides bear handwritten initials, numerals, and markings, including the date 1899. Both antique vases are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with vibrant colors and subtle variations reflecting their hand-painted decoration. Displayed together, they make striking decorative accents for a mantel, buffet, or center table.
