Hand carved near Venice, Italy, circa 1960, the tall seated dog rests on an integral square pillow-form base decorated in deep red with gilt trim. The slender canine is sculpted with a proud upright posture, elongated muzzle, alert expression, and finely carved paws, capturing the graceful silhouette associated with greyhounds and whippets.
The figure is finished in a beautifully aged silvered surface with warm undertones, visible crackle, rubbed areas, and natural patina throughout. A gilt-accented collar circles the neck, adding a refined decorative detail against the silvered body.
