Bring vibrant color and elegant Asian artistry to a console, center table, or entryway with this large vintage Chinese porcelain vase. Crafted in China circa 1950, the substantial vessel features a traditional baluster form with rounded shoulders, a tapered body, and a wide flared neck.

The vase is intricately hand-painted in the Famille Verte palette, with rich shades of green, orange, yellow, lavender, and black accented by touches of gilt. Large decorative reserves depict exotic birds among flowering branches, peonies, foliage, rocks, and water. Smaller panels feature foo dogs, butterflies, botanical scenes, and arrangements of precious objects. Dense floral decoration and finely patterned geometric borders unite the composition, creating visual interest from every angle.

The delicately outlined feathers, blossoms, and leaves demonstrate the fine decorative craftsmanship of the piece, while the white porcelain ground allows the saturated colors to stand out beautifully. The vase is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use. A red character seal mark appears on the underside.
