18th Century French Regence Carved Giltwood Wall Mirror from Provence
This elegant, antique gilt mirror would make a charming addition to an entryway or powder room. Crafted in Southern France, circa 1780, the rectangular Provincial mirror is heavily carved and exemplifies the design elements of the Rococo and Baroque style. The frame is decorated at the pediment with a carved shell rocaille cartouche flanked with leaf motifs and both sides are embellished with carved pine cones finials and rosettes medallions in the corners. The frame is further decorated with acanthus leaves on both sides, and small feet at the bottom. The feminine mirror features the original mercury glass and wood backing for structure. The ornate Louis XV Provencal mirror is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use and adorns its original bright and patinated gold leaf finish. Hooks and wire on the back for easy handling and installation. Measures: 24.5″ W x 37.5″H.
