About
Add classical gravitas to your space with this elegant set of three antique engravings depicting views of ancient Hercules sculptures. Printed in Rome in the 18th century, each print is finely executed in black ink with remarkable anatomical detail, showcasing the heroic male form in the tradition of Greco-Roman statuary. The inscriptions identify each view as a study of the same Hercules statue from different perspectives: “La Medesima Statua dell’Ercole in altra Veduta” (The same statue of Hercules in another view), and “Altra Veduta del Medesimo Ercole” (Another view of the same Hercules), located in historic Roman palaces such as Palazzo Farnese and Palazzo Verospi. The engravings were created by Francesco Aquila and Nicolas Dorigny after ancient sculptures, and were printed by the renowned publisher Domenico de Rossi in Rome. Each print is housed in a giltwood frame with foliate motifs fitted with protective glass for preservation. The sheets show light foxing consistent with age, adding to their antique charm. Perfect for a library, study, or neoclassical interior, this rare set offers timeless refinement and a glimpse into the Grand Tour fascination with classical antiquity. 15″W x 20″H
