19th C. French Louis XV Gilt Guéridon Side Table with Marble Top and Cane Shelf
$1,975
About
This elegant antique French guéridon side table was crafted in the Louis XV style, France, circa 1870. The refined round table features a richly veined marble top in soft blush and honey tones, finished with a gently molded edge and set within a finely carved giltwood surround. The apron is decorated with continuous ribbon-and-reed carving, punctuated by foliate reserves aligned with each leg, reflecting the graceful decorative vocabulary of the Louis XV period. The table is raised on four slender cabriole legs carved with trailing leaf motifs and retaining a warm, softly aged gilt-painted finish. The legs are joined by a lower oval shelf fitted with its original hand-woven cane insert, framed in giltwood, providing both visual lightness and practical display space. The airy proportions and delicate detailing make this antique table ideal as a side table, lamp table, or accent piece in a living room, bedroom, or refined powder room. The antique table is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with a beautifully preserved gilt surface showing gentle wear and patina. The marble top displays natural veining consistent with age, enhancing its authentic character and decorative appeal. Dimensions: 20″W x 15″D x 29.5″H.
