19th C. French Louis XVI Two-Tone Gilt and Painted Oval Wall Mirror with Cherubs
$3,200
About
Decorate an entryway, living room, or powder room with this elegant antique French wall mirror. Crafted circa 1870, the oval frame is carved from wood and finished in a refined two-tone palette, combining soft slate-blue paint with gilt accents. A continuous band of carved laurel leaves encircles the mirror plate, bordered by delicate beading that emphasizes the neoclassical symmetry. The crest features an exuberant floral basket flanked by a pair of cherubs, each rendered in graceful repose with finely carved wings and expressive faces. Additional acanthus carvings flow outward to balance the composition, culminating in scrollwork at the lower frame. The mirror retains its original mercury glass and wooden back, constructed from three wide horizontal planks. Measuring 29.5 inches wide by 44.75 inches high, this antique Louis XVI-style mirror is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use. A striking and romantic focal point, ideal for both traditional and eclectic interiors. New hanging device in the back.
