19th Century French Louis Philippe Giltwood Mirror with Engraved Floral Decor
$2,800
About
This elegant 19th-century wall mirror was crafted in France circa 1860, in the timeless Louis Philippe style. Rectangular in shape with rounded upper corners, the mirror is framed in hand-carved giltwood featuring a gently stepped profile decorated with foliate motifs along the inner edge. The warm gold finish reveals traces of underlying red bole, creating a softly aged patina that enhances its antique character. The mirror retains its original mercury glass, which displays subtle foxing and the soft shimmer typical of 19th-century craftsmanship. Together, the gently worn gilding and naturally aged glass lend a sense of quiet sophistication and historical depth. The back of the mirror shows its original wooden panel construction and is fitted with a hanging wire for wall mounting. In excellent condition commensurate with age and use, this classic antique mirror offers understated opulence and would make a beautiful addition above a console, in a powder room, or layered into a gallery wall. Excellent condition commensurate with age and use. New hanging device in the back. 31.5”W x 49.5”H
