19th Century French Cobalt Blue and Gilt Porcelain Neoclassical Vase
$1,075
About
Decorate a console, mantel, or buffet with this elegant antique porcelain vase crafted in France circa 1890. Executed in a refined Neoclassical style, the tall vessel features a slender cylindrical neck rising from a rounded bulbous base, creating a graceful architectural silhouette ideal for both traditional and transitional interiors.
The vase is finished in a rich cobalt blue glaze and embellished throughout with finely hand-painted gilt decoration. A central Louis XVI-style floral trophy with ribbon bow, garlands, and botanical motifs adorns the body, while the upper collar is encircled with classical gilt ornamentation inspired by Empire and Neoclassical design. Additional gilt foliate sprigs accent the neck and base, adding balance and elegance to the composition.
Signed near the lower decoration, the porcelain displays exceptional craftsmanship with crisp gilding and luminous color contrast between the deep blue ground and warm gilt accents. The antique vase is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and makes a sophisticated decorative statement displayed alone or filled with tall branches.
