This charming antique landscape painting captures a peaceful rural scene with a stone bridge, architectural ruins, figures, and gently reflective water. Crafted in France circa 1880, the oval composition is executed in oil on panel and presented in a molded black ebonized wood frame accented with a narrow gilt inner border.

The scene centers on an old masonry bridge pierced by two rounded arches, their warm reflections mirrored in the calm water below. A solitary figure crosses the pathway above, while a woman in traditional country dress stands at the water’s edge with a small bucket beside her. Beyond the bridge, the remains of a round stone tower rise among mature trees, with softly rendered hills receding into the distance beneath a pale blue and cloud-filled sky.

Painted in an appealing naturalistic manner, the work combines soft greens, earthy browns, muted blues, and touches of warm ochre. The loosely handled foliage, atmospheric background, and delicate reflections give the composition a tranquil, romantic quality characteristic of late 19th-century European landscape painting.

The oval wood frame features a deep molded profile with an ebonized finish and slender gilt liner. The back retains an old wood panel and a metal hanging ring.
