19th Century French Patinated Bronze Wall Hanging Labrador Head Sculpture

$2,800

About

Decorate a man’s office or study with this heavy antique hunting dog sculpture. Created in France circa 1880 and built of bronze, the sculpture composition attributed to Jules Moigniez, depicts a Labrador retriever head turned to the side. The sculpture is in excellent condition, with fine and exquisite details, and adorns a rich patinated bronze finish. A wonderful addition for a dog lover, or any ranch or hunting lodge! Jules Moigniez (1835-1894) was a French animalier (animal) sculptor who was active during the 19th century. His output was primarily cast in bronze and he frequently exhibited his sculptures at the Paris Salon. He was best known for his bronzes depicting birds, although his skill and versatility enabled him to produce quality horse sculptures (primarily racehorses), dog sculptures and hunting scenes. His bird sculptures were among the finest ever created during his time. Weight: 17 pounds Measures: 11″ W x 11″ D x 7″ H.
