A striking example of late 19th-century Italian craftsmanship, this antique twelve-light chandelier combines an intricately shaped iron frame with an abundance of sparkling crystal ornamentation. Crafted in Italy circa 1890, the large chandelier features a graceful silhouette with scrolling iron arms arranged around a central stem, creating an impressive display of light and decorative detail.
The elaborate iron framework is embellished with delicate strands of faceted crystal beads, cascading swags, and numerous hanging crystal prisms in teardrop, spear, and pendeloque shapes. Clear crystals are complemented by occasional amber-colored drops, adding warmth and contrast to the composition. The upper section features an elongated glass baluster surrounded by sweeping iron scrolls, while the lower tier supports twelve candle-style lights, each fitted with a white candle sleeve and a scalloped glass bobeche adorned with additional crystal drops.
