About
Add architectural presence and old-world elegance to an entry, hallway, living room, or study with this stately antique French Empire walnut grandfather clock. Crafted in France circa 1840, the tall case clock is built in two sections and showcases richly figured walnut craftsmanship with a warm, deep patina developed over nearly two centuries.
The case reflects the refined classical taste of the Empire period, with a bold molded cornice, paneled sides, an ebonized plinth base, and turned column supports accented with brass capitals and bases. The upper section features a shaped glazed door opening to reveal a white enamel dial with Roman numerals, decorative gilt hands, and an ornate repoussé brass surround decorated with classical urn, sunburst, floral, and foliate motifs. Below, a long paneled door opens to the pendulum compartment and is beautifully framed with molded trim and flanked by matching columns.
This antique grandfather clock is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use and is in wonderful working order. The case separates into two pieces for easier transport and installation. The clock includes two weights, pendulum, and winding key.
