Early 20th C. French Louis XV Marble Top Carved Walnut Four-Door Buffet Enfilade
$11,000
About
Crafted in Provence circa 1920, this grand French Louis XV style enfilade is built from solid walnut and crowned with a shaped slab of Giallo Siena Breccia marble. The contoured top features a bullnose edge and a serpentine front, accentuating the natural movement of the richly veined golden marble, with warm ochre, cream, and rust-toned inclusions. The case features four paneled doors with scalloped moldings and hand-carved foliate motifs, flanking a central bank of six serpentine drawers. Each element is adorned with original brass hardware and decorative escutcheons. Carved acanthus leaf feet and shell motifs embellish the apron and cabriole legs, providing elegant lift and ornament. The end compartments include curved interior shelving, ideal for organizing serveware or display pieces. Measuring 114.5 inches wide, 24.75 inches deep, and 41.5 inches high, this substantial antique enfilade offers both beauty and practical storage. Excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with a glowing walnut patina and minor surface wear to the marble top consistent with its history.
