About

Stylish and architectural, this antique French desk set would make a handsome addition to an office, library, or study. Crafted in France circa 1930, the rectangular writing accessory is constructed of wood finished in a rich black lacquer and features the clean geometric lines associated with the Art Deco period. The raised writing stand is fitted with two removable square glass inkwells, each topped with a rounded silver-tone metal lid. Between the inkwells is a small covered compartment with a petite knob, while two long molded troughs provide convenient rests for pens or writing instruments.

The desk set stands on four rounded feet and incorporates a wide pull-out drawer beneath the writing surface, revealing a contrasting warm wood interior for storing stationery, nibs, seals, or other small desk accessories. The sweeping curved ends and stepped construction give the piece a particularly elegant streamlined silhouette. The antique writing set is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with minor surface wear consistent with its history.
