This large French Rococo style wine cooler was crafted circa 2000 and is executed in silver plate with strong decorative presence and refined sculptural detail. The elongated oval basin features a hammered body framed by a richly undulating, fluted rim; each side is fitted with scrolling handles terminating in finely modeled putti finials, lending the piece a playful yet elegant character inspired by 18th century French ornamental traditions. The bowl is raised on a tall turned stem set over a stepped pedestal base, lavishly decorated with scrolling foliage, shell motifs, and voluted feet that provide excellent balance and visual weight. The interior is generously proportioned, making this piece especially well suited for chilling multiple bottles of wine or champagne with ice during entertaining. Finished in bright silver plate with a soft, even patina, the chiller is in excellent vintage condition with light surface wear consistent with age and use. While ideal as a wine or champagne chiller, it may also be used as a decorative centerpiece or an indoor jardinière for floral arrangements in a dining room, bar, or wine cellar.
