Pair of 19th Century French Louis Philippe Marble Top Walnut Corner Cabinets
$2,400
About
Decorate a hallway, library, or living room with this elegant pair of antique French encoignures. Crafted in France circa 1880, the walnut corner cabinets are designed to fit neatly into an angle while providing practical storage and display space. Each cabinet features a recessed paneled door flanked by fluted pilasters and raised on a molded plinth base. The clean architectural lines and restrained decoration are characteristic of the Louis Philippe revival style popular in late 19th Century France. Each cabinet is topped with its original shaped gray marble top embellished with dramatic natural veining and a molded beveled edge. One marble top shows visible restoration work, including an old repaired fissure/crack, as shown in the detailed images. The repair is consistent with the age and use of the piece and does not detract from the overall decorative appeal. The doors open to reveal an interior shelf creating two spacious storage compartments. The interiors have been newly lined in rich red fabric accented with decorative braid, adding a striking contrast to the warm walnut finish. The antique cabinets retain their original locks and keys and are finished on all exposed sides, allowing for versatile placement. Their compact scale and unusual corner form make them ideal for adding both function and elegance to a traditional interior; versatile, they could also be used in a bedroom as bedside tables or nightstands. Dimensions: 17”W x 12.25”D x 29.5”H
