Pair of Early 20th Century French Louis XV Bombé Mahogany Bedside Tables
$2,800
About
Crafted in France circa 1920, this elegant pair of antique Louis XV-style bedside tables features graceful bombé silhouettes finished in richly figured, matched mahogany veneers. Each nightstand is fitted with a serpentine top bordered by a shaped three-quarter gallery, creating a practical surface for lamps, books, and bedside accessories. An open upper compartment provides convenient storage, while the curved lower cabinet door, centered with a floral-form brass knob, opens to reveal an interior lined with blue-and-white fleur-de-lis fabric. Fine string inlay and carefully arranged veneers accent the fronts and sides. The bedroom tables stand on slender cabriole legs ending in ornate gilt-bronze sabots. Both refined and functional, these matching bedside cabinets offer useful storage while adding symmetry and French elegance to a bedroom. The pair is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with a warm, lustrous patina.
