Vintage French Louis XV Style Twelve-Bottle Wine Cabinet “Cave à Vin”
$1,500
About
This charming antique French cave à vin was handcrafted in the Poitou region using reclaimed old-growth wood, celebrating the rustic ingenuity of regional wine culture. Designed to store 12 wine bottles, the cabinet features four shaped shelves with hand-cut bottle cradles, each tier stenciled with traditional lettering that reads CAVE À VIN, reinforcing its original purpose. The proportions are narrow and vertical, making it an ideal wine storage solution for tight spaces while retaining strong visual character. The construction highlights thick plank sides, a molded overhanging top, and gently shaped feet, all displaying a warm, honey-toned patina developed through age and use. The sides retain their original stamped merchant’s mark, Établissements Larousse, Bordeaux, adding authentic commercial provenance and decorative appeal. Subtle scroll carving along the shelf fronts introduces a touch of provincial elegance without losing the piece’s utilitarian charm. The cabinet is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with honest wear, surface marks, and variations in the wood that underscore its antique nature. Both decorative and functional, this French wine cabinet works beautifully in a kitchen, dining room, cellar, or tasting room, and can also serve as character-rich storage or display. Dimensions: 17″ W x 12.5″ D x 37.5″ H
