19th Century French Louis XV Carved Oak Side Table
$1,700
About
This elegant antique side table combines the warmth of richly patinated oak with the graceful lines of the Louis XV style. Crafted in France circa 1880, the table features a rectangular plank top with rounded corners and a subtly molded edge. Below, the scalloped apron is hand-carved on all four sides with scrolling foliage, shell-inspired motifs, and gently undulating contours. The table is raised on four slender cabriole legs, each flowing naturally from the apron and terminating in simple tapered feet. Traditional pegged construction remains visible at the corners, reflecting the craftsmanship of the period. The oak displays attractive grain, mellow coloration, and a warm timeworn patina acquired through generations of use. Versatile in scale, this charming table could serve as an end table, bedside table, lamp table, or occasional table beside a sofa or armchair. In excellent condition commensurate with age and use.
