Vintage French Provincial Pine Twelve-Bottle Wine Cabinet, Cave à Vin
$1,500
About
This charming vintage wine cabinet was handcrafted in the Poitou region of France using reclaimed pine, reflecting the resourceful craftsmanship and rustic traditions of regional wine culture. Designed to accommodate twelve bottles, the narrow cabinet features four open storage tiers fitted with hand-cut wooden cradles that hold the bottles horizontally. The shaped shelf fronts are embellished with scrolling motifs and hand-stenciled lettering reading “CAVE À VIN,” clearly expressing the cabinet’s original purpose.
Thick plank sides, a molded overhanging top, scalloped aprons, and gently shaped feet give the piece a sturdy yet decorative French Provincial appearance. The sides retain an original stamped merchant’s mark for Établissements Larousse, Bordeaux, adding authentic commercial provenance and visual interest. Its slender vertical proportions make this practical bottle rack particularly well suited to a kitchen, dining room, wine cellar, tasting room, bar, or compact entertaining space.
The warm honey-brown finish highlights the grain and natural variations of the reclaimed pine. Honest surface marks, old nail holes, minor irregularities, and wear developed through age and use enhance its distinctive antique character. Both functional and decorative, this French cave à vin provides practical wine storage with a wonderfully timeworn patina.
The cabinet is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use.
