19th Century French Black Forest Walnut Cave à Liqueur with Gilt Crystal Service
$2,150
About
Elevate a bar, library, or gentleman’s study with this exceptional antique Cave à Liqueur from France, crafted circa 1870. Executed in richly patinated walnut in the Black Forest taste, the architectural liquor cabinet is designed in the form of a miniature chalet, embellished with finely carved geometric motifs, arched window panels, and a sculptural floral crest crowning the hinged lid.
Opening the top reveals a beautifully fitted removable service set complete with sixteen matching gilt-decorated cordial glasses and four crystal decanters with their original stoppers. The cut crystal pieces are adorned with elegant hand-applied gold floral and foliate motifs that shimmer against the deeply faceted surfaces. A central carrying handle allows the entire serving caddy to be lifted from the case, transforming it into a sophisticated entertaining accessory.
The cabinet retains its original glass panels, intricate carved detailing, and warm walnut finish. Both decorative and functional, this antique cave à liqueur showcases the craftsmanship and refinement associated with late 19th-century French entertaining traditions. The piece is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns a rich, deep walnut patina throughout.
