About
Richly patinated and full of authentic Old World character, this antique Spanish side table is distinguished by its compact proportions, substantial construction, and beautifully preserved period details. Crafted in Spain circa 1780, the table is built of solid walnut in the provincial Spanish Baroque tradition.
The thick rectangular top is fashioned from a single broad plank of walnut, a desirable construction feature that reveals the generous scale and quality of the original timber. Its gently irregular edges, visible knots, natural grain, and time-worn surface contribute to the table’s warm, beautifully aged appearance.
Below, a single deep drawer offers practical storage and is fitted with a rounded wooden pull. The drawer front is embellished with geometric molded panels arranged in a symmetrical architectural pattern, while the shaped apron beneath is finished with a restrained scalloped profile. Traditional dovetail joinery visible on the drawer reflects the hand craftsmanship of the period.
The table stands on four ring-turned legs punctuated by square block joints and joined by a sturdy box-form stretcher. A central turned support adds further visual interest and reinforces the architectural quality of the base. Small rounded feet complete the rustic silhouette.
Its versatile scale makes this antique walnut table ideal as an end table, lamp table, bedside table, nightstand, or occasional table. It would complement Spanish Colonial, Mediterranean, rustic, farmhouse, French Country, or traditional interiors.
The table is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use and retains a rich walnut patina.
