Early 20th Century French Painted Barbotine Ceramic Duck Pitcher

$575

About

This French mjolica water pitcher was crafted in France circa 1920. The pitcher features a mallard duck in flight, set against a naturalistic backdrop of reeds and cattails. The rich colors and intricate details make this piece a standout example of Barbotine ware, reflecting the era’s fascination with nature and artistry. It’s both a functional object and a decorative work of art, embodying French ceramic tradition. The large pitcher showcases exquisite craftsmanship with its vibrant, hand-painted glaze; it is in excellent condition with wonderful hand painted colors. EDW stamped on the underside for further identification. Barbotine is a type of pottery known for its bold, three-dimensional designs. 11″W x 7″D x 12″H
