Pair of Early 20th Century French Louis XV Walnut Marble-Top Bedside Tables
$2,600
About
Graceful proportions and charming Rococo details give this elegant pair of antique bedside tables exceptional French character. Crafted in France circa 1920 from solid walnut, each cabinet stands on slender cabriole legs richly carved with flowing acanthus motifs that continue across the shaped apron and raised door panels. The warm walnut displays a beautiful mellow patina that contrasts handsomely with the richly veined marble tops in warm shades of brown, cream, and white.
Each bedside table is fitted with a single dovetailed drawer above a paneled cabinet door opening to a spacious interior, providing practical storage for books, personal items, or bedside essentials. The cabinets are crowned with tall, sculptural back splashes featuring elegant scrolling crests and carved foliate decoration. Two shaped display shelves built into each back allow for the presentation of small clocks, porcelain, photographs, or decorative accessories, making these pieces equally suited for use as nightstands or accent cabinets.
The marble tops feature rounded front corners and molded edges, while the finely shaped walnut cases exhibit traditional French craftsmanship throughout. Raised on graceful cabriole legs terminating in delicate scroll feet, the pair has an airy silhouette despite offering generous storage.
The antique bedside tables are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use and adorn a rich walnut patina with beautifully preserved carvings and attractive veined marble tops.
