Pair of 19th Century French Cut Crystal and Gilt Bronze Urns on Pedestals
$4,500
About
This elegant pair of antique garniture vases was crafted in France circa 1880 and showcases refined 19th-century artistry in cut crystal and gilt bronze, in the style of Baccarat or Saint Louis. Each vessel features a flared lip, a baluster stem, and a rounded bowl, all intricately adorned with crosshatch and fan-cut patterns. The rim is encircled by a gilt bronze collar, adding a touch of opulence and contrast to the brilliant crystal. The pieces rest on square pedestals, each composed of matching cut crystal panels mounted within gilt bronze frames. The bases are raised on four finely cast gilt bronze paw feet with stylized acanthus leaf embellishments. The underside features a wooden panel secured within the bronze structure, attesting to their period craftsmanship. Both vases are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and display exceptional clarity with finely cast gilt bronze mounts. Free from figural or animal ornamentation such as rams, this pair emphasizes symmetry, purity of form, and classical elegance—ideal for flanking a mantel, adorning a console, or anchoring a refined tablescape. Measures: 7″ W x 7″ D x 20.5″ H.
