Decorate a living room, bedroom, or seating area with this elegant near pair of Mid-Century Louis XVI style side tables. Crafted in France circa 1960, the tables are similar in form, size, and decoration, with slight variations in wood tone, dimensions, and marquetry detail, giving each table its own individual character while still presenting beautifully together.
Each table is made with richly grained mahogany veneer, satinwood marquetry inlay, contrasting wood banding, brass gallery trim, and bronze doré ormolu mounts. The rectangular tops with rounded corners are decorated with geometric floral marquetry borders and centered with oval medallions featuring musical trophies, flowers, ribbons, and foliate motifs, all typical of the Louis XVI Neoclassical taste.
Each table is fitted with a single front drawer decorated with additional marquetry inlay and a round bronze pull. The cases are further dressed with gilt bronze mounts, including beaded frames, floral drops, swag motifs, corner mounts, and bronze sabots. The straight tapered legs are joined by lower medial shelves decorated with matching marquetry and framed with brass trim, ending on elegant bronze arrow-form feet.
The antique-inspired tables have refined Louis XVI lines, warm wood tones, and beautiful decorative detail throughout. Perfect as bedside tables, sofa end tables, or occasional tables, the near pair is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use.
